If you have some quality time to spend together:
- Make a bucket list of their favorite things to do and commit to completing as many as possible
- Take long walks, if they are unable to walk consider walking them in a wagon or stroller
- Hold a photo shoot – photos are the most wonderful way to capture the special moments and keep them for a lifetime
- Treat them to their favorite foods, snacks and/or toys
- Put aside a designated time each day to spend with them, no phone, no tv, no distractions. Just you and them and whatever they want to do.
- Shower them with love
Once they have crossed the Bridge:
- Hold a funeral, many pet cemeteries have services
- Create a memorial space
- Write them letters – or create an online memorial, there are many sites such as Letters to Pushkin
- Plant a tree/flowering plant as a memorial
- Hold an event to honor their life
- Donate your time to a local shelter or rescue
- Get a tattoo
- Quilts, collages and photo gifts to capture their spirit
- Sponsor a pup in need
- Memorial jewelry to keep them close to you
- Memorial stones for the yard
- Keep their collar or a favorite toy on the mantle to display
- Make a donation in their memory
- Help others in need
- Adopt a pup and share the much love you still have to give
